My work is that which I can translate from my
experiences, walking through the city, on the beach, sitting in a park or
wherever I have grasped a moment.
I take these moments into the studio or into my sketchbook and work out
the compositions that I have structured internally.
The end result is always somewhat a surprise to me as the
process of transferring my imagination to something physically tangible is an
adventure that often takes spontaneous directions along the way.
I like to combine oil pastel
line work with acrylic paint in my pieces, a technique that has evolved from my
love of drawing and connection with vivid color.
I am also working with clay and wood three dimensional forms suspended in front of images.
These pieces move with air flow and create interesting depth and movement.
Currently, I am working on several techniques, including collage, shadowboxing and mixed media featuring sheet music.
Many forms of the arts, always Japanese and Chinese
woodblock prints as well as American street/folk art, inspire me.
I live in Fort Collins, CO with my balance (wifey Christine) and fire (son Soren).
